Stuart Broad has some advice for modern athletes who are tempted to respond to online criticism: don't take the bait.

The England legend swapped his whites for sharp suits in 2023 as he made the move from the dressing room to the commentary box.

It's been a seamless transition for Stuart, and one thing he surely does not miss is the negativity that greets every setback on the pitch.

For elite athletes, criticism - and often online abuse - comes with the territory. And the 4CAST co-founder admits he didn't always deal with it the best way.

"I’ve definitely made the mistake of being sat in hotel rooms and nibbling at media," he said.

"But ultimately, when I look back on that, it didn't and it doesn't do me any good. There’s no win with it.

"I actually think it's harder, much harder now," added Stuart.

"When I first started playing, you had to go and buy a newspaper, find the cricket article and read that you're crap.

"Now, it's straight in your pocket. You open your phone and Sandra, 23, thinks I'm useless, so it's much harder.

"I'm glad that I've got experience behind me. Because now social media has arrived at our doorstep, I can really see how it's difficult for young professionals."

Stuart was speaking with Ben Stokes and Josh Denzel at an exclusive 4CAST shoot. Watch the video for more of their candid conversation.
