We caught up with Matty Potts in Adelaide as he prepared for the third Test of the Ashes series against Australia.
The England bowler and 4CAST athlete sat down in the sunshine at the Adelaide Oval - and talked us through his recovery routine for all formats of cricket.
For Matty it's a daily discipline which comprises treatment, hot and cold therapy, and a sensible approach to consumption.
"Some people go for the soft tissue work," he said.
"That would be in and around games and then after games.
"For me it's probably more about soft tissue work during a game, and then after a day's play I probably jump in the ice bath, and just give myself five minutes of full submersion and just try and get that reset and get on top of it early.
"In between games, I like the sauna. I use the sauna, I use the ice bath and that helps me to tick along with my recovery.
"I also think a key to recovery is that you've got to be smart about alcohol consumption," added Matty.
"Because after a game you want to have a beer with the lads, but you can't have too much because that is going to have a knock-on effect with your recovery for the next two or three days.
"So that kind of consumption is only possible if you get a decent block of time off, only then can you have a few beers with the lads.
"You've got to try and keep on top of that because you're just knocking yourself back."
