Stuart Broad MBE has a passion for business and is a key decision-maker within the 4CAST collective.
An England legend, the Nottinghamshire fast bowler burst onto the scene in 2006 as the Cricket Writers' Club Young Cricketer of the Year, nearly claiming a hat-trick of wickets on his international debut against Pakistan.
His stock continued to rise in the following years, especially after a sensational spell of bowling during the fifth and decisive Ashes Test at The Oval in 2009. With the series in the balance, Broad returned figures of 5 for 37 in 12 overs, including 4 for 8 in 21 balls. There was no coming back for Australia.
Broad's importance to England was cemented when he was appointed T20 captain in 2011 but he continued to flourish in the Test format, producing a Man of the Series display with the first Test match hat-trick at Trent Bridge during a spell of 5 for 5 against India.
Broad took 7 for 72 against the West Indies in 2012 to become only the eighth player to be on both honours boards at Lord's, following his maiden Test century of 169 against Pakistan. Another four wickets in the next innings saw the first 10-wicket haul at Lord's since Ian Botham’s in 1978.
Another 11-wicket haul secured the 2013 Ashes, while a six-for in the first innings at Brisbane in the return tour couldn't prevent a whitewash. By January 2022, Broad had recorded 19 five-wicket Test hauls. At the time, only 25 cricketers could boast more.
One of his most memorable came at his home ground of Trent Bridge during the first session of the 2015 Ashes series, when he took 8 for 15 as Australia were bowled out before lunch, in only 18.3 overs, for 60.
Broad is England's second-highest wicket taker in Test cricket and, during the 2020 series against the West Indies, became only the seventh bowler to take 500 Test wickets.
Broad received an MBE for services to cricket in 2017 and has recently helped Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes reimagine the nightwatchman role by becoming England's ‘nighthawk’ - in front of the wicket for a good time, not a long time.
